Solo cruising but not So Low prices

Cruising offers single passengers a safe way to travel the world and a social environment in which to meet people and make new friends, there are always lots of organised activities and social events on board to keep you busy night and day, including organised singles cruise cocktail parties and dining

BUT the cost of a single cabin has always been a problem as a solo or single cruiser creates “spoilage” in cruise-speak — in other words, not only an empty bed that doesn’t add booking revenue, but also a missing body to add auxiliary revenue from drink sales, casino use, shore excursions and spa treatments. Up until now a single or solo could expect to pay up to and even more than double the cost of a twin cabin

2014 has seen a big increase in the number of single cabins for solo travellers, as more new ships are launched and older ships are refitted thankfully the cruise lines are finally listening to their passengers and introducing single cabins

Did you know that Azamara have amazingly low single supplements across a range of 2014 and 2015 voyages, solo travellers only pay 25% extra ?

Guests can experience the friendly ambience of an Azamara Club Cruise whether sailing individually or with a group of friends in their own stateroom. What’s more, with a complimentary AzAmazing Evening, plus a range of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks included in the price

NCL’s Norwegian Epic has an entire section of the ship dedicated to single passengers which includes their own lounge where canapés are served each evening — showing the social nature of single cabin cruises.

P&O’s Arcadia, Aurora, Oriana and Ventura all now have single cabins.

All have a “boutique hotel style” feel to them.

Special touches include complimentary water and a “pamper pack” on arrival. Each cabin has a single bed, a flat-screen television and a vanity/writing desk and drawers, plus a bathroom with a shower.

Cabins are priced for one, with no solo supplement, but they do sell out quickly since they’re so limited in number. Don’t expect any last-minute deals on these staterooms.

Fred Olsen, are a firm favourite for solo travellers offering a warmer, more sociable atmosphere on board. Fred Olsen’s ships are perfect for people who are travelling by themselves. You can visit your chosen destinations, meeting people along the way, on board and ashore.

Fred. Olsen pride themselves in understanding how difficult it can be to find holidays without huge single supplements  with  great offers on single cabins and twin cabins for sole occupancy.
