Walking on sunshine….

I remember as a child the excitement of seeing bright and colourful holiday brochures appear on the coffee table, knowing that this was the first sign that Mum & Dad were planning our next family adventure… corners folded down of the pages featuring places that had made the shortlist.

Travel has forever been a part of my life and I still get a buzz from flicking through the glossy pages of a holiday brochure, with dreams of far flung destinations and adventures yet to be discovered…

…and whether the final decision be a citybreak, an escape to the sun, safari adventure or paradise cruise; the feeling when skipping out of the office on the last day before your holiday truly is like walking on sunshine!

Yet the way we book our holidays has changed in recent years, whilst late availability and bargain-bucket last minute deals seemed to afford travellers the best savings in years gone by, nowadays it is the early bird that catches the low deposit, lowest fares on travel, early saving discounts and early booking benefits…

…and booking in advance gives us the opportunity to enjoy that ‘walking on sunshine’ feeling from the moment the holiday is booked, right through the countdown to departure!

For me, I like to make the most of my holiday, and as bit of a holiday geek that means researching destinations online, reading reviews, flicking through images, watching videos and booking early…

… but my preparation doesn’t stop there, over a cup of tea (or a glass of wine) I like to prebook everything from excursions to dinner reservations, pick up tickets to a show and plan out the holiday itinerary step-by-step from my living room; often creating a slideshow to share with the lucky people travelling along with me (a slideshow often played on my phone to anyone expressing even a half-hearted interest in my holiday plans – shout out to my hairdresser who has ‘enjoyed’ all of my slideshows!)

…throughout the extensive research, the point of booking and right through the preparation & countdown, this holiday-geek is walking on sunshine!
