I was really surprised to see in the latest Travel News that Costa Cruises is to build 2 of the Worlds Largest Passenger Ships. The 2 Vessels will launch in 2019 & 2020 they will be the first Ships powered by Liquefied Natural Gas and will be build in Turku Finland. Both Ships will hold 600 passengers more than rival Royal Caribbean’s Oasis Class ships.
How will Costa fill these ships ? I ask myself, they are clearly demonstrating that Costa Cruises is well on the way to recovery following the Concordia Incident back in 2012 .
Would you be prepared to travel on a Ship with another 6599 passengers ? Imagine embarkation and disembarkation? Does bigger mean better?
I have been on some of the larger ships and that on occasion has been difficult to find a table for a large group at breakfast and lunch times in the buffet restaurants so I am not sure that a cruise ship so large would be for me . I have also had some recent feedback from a family member who has just come back from her last cruise in the Mediterranean with Royal Caribbean that bigger does not always mean better !
