Can’t wait to Escape

There are many perks to being a Cruise Consultant and one of my favourites is being invited to look at new ships and test out their facilities. This week I will be experiencing the new Norwegian Escape and she looks amazing.

At 163,000 tonnes and carrying 4250 passengers she is one of the new super ships and is marketed at both the contemporary couple and the family market. She is 172ft tall and it took nearly 32,000 gallons of paint to paint her. She follows her sisters the NCL Breakaway and Getaway featuring Hull artwork and it depicts 12 marine species which are native to the Caribbean where she is going to be based.

Inside the ship I will find 21 bars and lounges with flavours from around the world. From Spanish Tapas in the Pincho Tapas Bar, to Seafoood dishes  with a Latin flavour in Bayamo and the very best cheeseburgers in Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville. There will definitely be something for everyone.

My 9 year old son is gutted that he’s not coming as the ship features a massive high ropes course with 2356 feet of rope and The Plank which is 172 feet above sea level and sticks out 8 feet over the edge. There is no way I am going to try this although as an adrenaline junkie he certainly would.

Personally I will be more interested in trying the spa which has the largest Thermal Suite at sea. Along with traditional favourites such as steam rooms and vitality pools the Escape boasts the first Snow Room. With an arctic environment and temperatures as low as 21 degrees Fahrenheit it will feature snow flurries and stimulate blood circulation and boost the immune system.

As you can see the ship is set to offer a huge wealth of activities and facilities. I will be on board for less than 24 hours so am not sure how much I will manage to see but I will certainly give it all a good go.

Keep an eye on my blog and like my facebook page to see what I think of the ship and see my photo’s. Jo Cunninghams Cruise Page
