Caribbean? Can’t wait!

It’s a bit selfish of me I know, but I’m off on a Caribbean Cruise shortly & I can’t wait to indulge in some winter sunshine!

Normally I go away with my family at this time of year normally the Canaries and Tenerife is the favourite, however last year we did a two centre and stayed in La Gomera as well, which not a lot of people have heard of but it is a popular stop for cruise ships in the area. It’s a small volcanic island just off the Southern tip of Tenerife to which you fly to & transfer by fast ferry from Los Cristianos. A beautiful unspoilt island, La Gomera is like stepping back in time so life is at a much slower pace – but also offers excellent golf facilities, so I am told! An interesting fact about La Gomera is the locals used to communicate to each other across the valleys in a strange whistling language – now I suspect they are more likely to use their mobile phones! I simply did what is known in the trade as a ‘fly and flop’ and had 10 days sunning myself with a tiny bit of exploring to keep my husband happy!

So, now the kids are off our hands and every holiday/trip is only half the cost as we are only paying for 2 not 4, when on the lookout for this year’s dose of wintersun I was looking up the normal Canaries etc when I priced up this cruise for a lovely customer here at work. It was such a good deal for two weeks all-inclusive on the Marella cruise ship Celebration that sailing around the Caribbean was very little more than the Canaries so I booked it too! When booking my holiday at work my Manager told me I would be stony broke if I booked myself on every good deal I saw – but it is an occupational hazzard when you work in the Travel Industry.

We do sell a lot of Marella Cruises here as they are such good value for money and the food, service and entertainment are very highly rated.  The slight downside apparently is the ship is a little dated but when you are sailing through the beautiful Caribbean islands, I am prepared to turn a blind eye to that!

So with this wonderful itinerary coming up – prepare to be jealous again, when I come back as no doubt I will want to tell you all about it!  The beauty of being on a smaller ship (maximum capacity 1250 passengers) is it can get into those more interesting, smaller ports.

Barbados, Spanish Town – British Virgin Islands, St Maarten (made famous with that lovely beach being right under the airline flight path!), St Kitts, Guadeloupe (made famous by the BBC ‘Murder in Paradise’ series being filmed there!), St Vincent & the Grenadines, back to Barbados – so at least we get chance to visit the island, Antigua, Road Town – British Virgin Islands, St Barts, St Lucia & lastly Grenada.  I know probably one white sand beach will blend into another – but I don’t mind!  I shall report in full on my return!
