Brexit is amazing News For Southampton cruisers

Brexit what does it mean for Southampton cruises?

No Matter what your view was in the months leading up to the big debate and subsequent referendum back in June 2016.

We have at least had time for the dust to settle on the Brexit saga.

Teresa May has now had her first announcement on article 50 and at least we know that there is a date of March in place to discuss this pressing issue with the rest of Europe.

The question I get a lot is how will this effect my cruise prices?

How will Brexit effect air travel and prices going forward?

Here are my honest thoughts and its fair to say I have not spent my career in Finance so my view is to be taken as My opinion only.

I personally am already noticing prices going up on everyday items in the shops, no matter what we purchase it seems like prices are going up, this is in simple terms inflation and I honestly think its going up.

This means in general everything is more expensive no matter if that’s apps from apple who advised this week its apps are going up by £0.50p or air travel, fuel costs, cost of steel etc… pound to dollar, yen, euro exchange rates etc…

all of the above effects your holiday in particular the cruise industry.

Surly this can not be a good thing for a Southampton based cruise you say? I digress…

I don’t know about you but when you compare the costs of eating out in Europe, the Med or Canaries especially in high end Michelin star restaurants the costs post Brexit are extraordinary especially when you factor in exchange rates fluctuating.

Compare the costs of a show on Broadway or The Strand in London and you will soon spend £300 a night per couple.

Cruising from Southampton offers ships that cater towards the British market, there are no exchange rates other than a little local currencies for ports. excursions can be paid in British Pounds.

State of the art award winning shows Free of charge.

All inclusive food often all inclusive drinks and or on board credit.

Now importantly no additional taxes for air travel.

I don’t know about you but has there ever been a better time to book a Southampton sailing?
