STRIPY SOCKS AND TUXEDOS

Yes I was asked by a customer whether it would be ok to wear stripy socks with his extremely expensive dinner suit on special occasion nights. Apparently stripy socks are all he has in his drawers at home much to his wife’s annoyance. My answer of course was if it makes you happy Sir and of course your wife.

How many times have we sat on our bed, looked into our wardrobes and said what to I take and what do I wear on formal nights. Which shoes and which handbag will match the dress for the ladies and what tie and obviously what socks will match for the gentlemen.

I do think personally that this is where we kind of send ourselves in a panic , rush out to the nearest shopping centres and end up spending a fortune on something that we may possibly not wear in the first place. I am sure we have all done it over packed and then brought half of it back home not worn.

My advice would be take the pressure off yourself and relax when thinking about your cruise wardrobe. Many cruise companies are having a more relaxed approach when its coming to What to Wear scenario whilst on board.

Casual, Informal, Resort Casual and Semi Formal , trying to understand the terminology from different ships can be just as confusing as deciding what to take but it doesn’t have to be.

Think of it like going to different restaurants here in the UK, what you would wear to go out for Sunday Lunch would be completely different to what you would wear in a fancy French Restaurant in the city. Also you would wear different attire in a 3 star restaurant to a Michelin Star restaurant. Sometimes its about using your own mind and being comfortable in what you are wearing . Having this theory will take the pressure off and as long as your not trying to keep up with the Jones’s whilst on board just go and let your hair down and have a great time.
