Sea Sickness, Boredom and too much food.

Yes 72% of holiday makers believe that the reason they take a land based holiday rather than a cruise is because of Sea Sickness, Boredom and too much food.

As for too much food that is one of the main reasons I cruise. Isn’t it all about indulging in fine dining to the point of expanding your waistline that can make a cruise so appealing, as well as many other advantages of course.

The biggest fear was of being ill on board, which I can understand, if we are all really honest I am sure the majority of us have suffered from sea sickness at one point or another, although medications for sea sickness are great as are the doctors on board , sea sickness can depend on the individual. . It can also very much depends on the itinerary and time of year. I am sure many of you will agree , cruising over the Bay of Biscay in December can have its fare share of green customers but it can be a small price to pay for all the other benefits there are to cruising.

Finally boredom, really??, with so many ports of call so many shows and daytime activities is this really the case. I am sure 7 nights on the Quantam of the Seas or Norwegian Cruise Lines Breakaway will be more of a case of what you haven’t had time to do.

These common misconceptions can be very frustrating if your a regular cruiser trying to convince someone that it is all in their mind and don’t knock it til you have tried it scenario.

How many times have you heard ‘I wont go to Greece because my Niece went to Corfu last year and didn’t like it’.  There are hundreds of islands in Greece how can you compare one island to another. How can you compare one cruise line to another you can’t but it doesn’t stop customers thinking it and me trying to get this message across sometimes.

Is it still after all these years, with cruising holidays increasing at a rapid rate, still a battle of wills between cruising and land based holidays. What do you think??
