Queen Quantum Floated My Boat!!

Well she certainly did not disappoint, the ship that changes everything certainly changed my view of the way cruising has moved beyond our imagination. Two nights three days on the most futuristic ship of this century really did blow me away although not literally luckily.

If you are booked on either Quantum or Anthem then you are certainly in for a treat , no trick unless you include the technology behind the scenes where up to 170 men and women use digital technology to bring many a trick to life. So here is an account of my 72 hours, in two parts as so much to tell you, on board I hope you will be as impressed as I was. The only downside to this experience was having to disembark as believe me I could have stayed on this ship for many a week or two more.

CHECK IN

Check in was super fast and effortless , staff on hand to help you every step of the way, luggage electronically tagged and yes through security and waiting to board in ten minutes …. I was given a wrist band, which looked like a watch where the face digitally allowed you into your cabin , and also allowed you to book the many activities on board!! Much easier than carrying your key card everywhere as you forgot you were wearing it.

Once checked in I was given the opportunity to go on a tech tour with Jason Bradbury, TV’s Gadget Man and wow it didn’t disappoint. He took us around Bionic Bar, TWO70, Seaplex, North Star and Ifly, the technology behind these activities is immense and with 170 IT men and women in the control room make sure the digitally enhanced cruise firsts run like clockwork.

BIONIC BAR

A bar that on the centre of the ship is run by two robotic arms. They go by the name of BIO and NIC, great names Royal, and  can make any drink you choose . All you have to do is order your tipple on an IPAD at the bar and watch the robots at work, it really is quite something. I have to admit I thought the measure of my gin would be limited but I was in for a shock when I had a taste and realised they must have poured me a triple.

NORTH STAR

Amazing activities on board that will blow your mind not your budget! North Star an amazing concept that elevates you 300 feet above the ship and out above the ocean . They even have a license for weddings on board North Star, I have a fear of heights but the view was totally amazing so I genuinely didn’t think of my fear. One complimentary ride is included for all guests. Enjoy !!

IFLY

I have always wanted to experience Sky Diving form a young age but never really had the opportunity to do this so when I was asked to ride on the IFLY it was a dream come true. I won’t lie I was a a bit of a wreck as I signed the ten page indemnity  on an ipad of course but I knew it was going to be amazing. Myself and 9 others were asked into a room to watch a 4 minute video which gave you the basic training with an instructor who was on hand to answer any questions. The wind tunnel is there to mirror the exact same feeling you would be given if you were jumping out of a plane. At this moment my palms became a little sweaty I can tell you not to mention the shaking of the knees too. Once finished we were suited and booted in a jumpsuit helmet and goggles and take to the wind tunnel where one by one you are given 60 seconds of a sky diving experience to remember. Again one ride is included in the price for everyone but please do book early. This was me and I have to say it wasn’t frightening at all it was a totally awe inspiring experience.

There really is so much to tell you and I will continue to do this over the next seven days and now ALL INCLUSIVE is back when booking your Royal Caribbean holiday its never been a better time to book. Until the next instalment….
