JAMIES ITALIAN HAS THE WOW FACTOR

Visiting Jamie’s Italian in Leeds on Saturday night to celebrate my daughters 18th was something to be excited and almost intrigued about since Royal Caribbean  announced Jamie’s Italian will be on her Quantum Class ships. I knew this restaurant had to be special.

Wow, this restaurant didn’t disappoint , from the moment we entered their was a rustic charm about the place and as you would predict a lively atmosphere on a Saturday night but not overpowering. Once greeted by a waiter we were asked to make our way to the bar while they finished preparing our table.

As we walked towards the bar on the right hand side was an open kitchen where the chefs were busy at work , plain for you all to see and the smell was delicious. The bar area was small but not over run with people waiting for a drink that you would sometimes expect. The vibe in the whole restaurant was fun, relaxed and definitely made you feel at home.

After all 8 of us were led to our wooden table along the back wall by the window, we were given our menus and drinks we had ordered were brought over, I have to say the service was amazing, nothing was too much trouble. Even at 9.30 the restaurant was busy but not too busy where you were crammed together like sardines, you had your own space.

Regarding the food I had already looked on line to view the menus and although an Italian restaurant it was an Italian with a twist, the starters were very much focused on pates and anti pasta and all kinds of breads that came as a sharing platter with balsamic vinegar and fresh  tomato relish. No prawn cocktails or parma ham with melon on Jamie’s menu , to tie in with the ambiance of the place the rustic food went with it perfectly.

For main courses, you were looking at all kinds of steaks, chicken and pasta dishes all with a twist and all with spice. I have to say be careful if you dont like spices because even the pate I had was hot!!.This was the burger I had for main, not for the faint hearted at all and the three cooked chips were gorgeous.

I have to be really honest that when it came to desserts I really couldn’t manage one and although only a small menu from what the rest of the family had to say was that the ice cream and cheesecake were delicious. The staff did however come over with a cake for my daughter to wish her a happy 18th birthday.

I have to say that the meal wasn’t as expensive as you would expect and although the menu could be rather limited compared to other Italian restaurants I have to say the food was delectable, tasty, superb!!! Jamie has given alot of thought to the style of his restaurant as once entering you would have to argue with yourself that this was actually Italian. It really did give you a sense of Italy but back in the day with lots of Italian village charm.

If this dining experience is anything to go by on board Quantum Class ships then I for one will be a gust on many occasions. You will not be disappointed.

Holly xx
