Sizzle at Sea….

It looks like summer has finally arrived, and my family and I have been making the most of this glorious sunshine!  The Chimnea has been lit most nights and the Barbecue has chargrilled everything in the fridge!

If this is all the summer we are getting then I am making the most of it! You don’t have to leave behind your desire for great barbecue when you cruise. Fat Jimmy’s C-Side BBQ, Carnival Cruise Lines resident expert, simmer’s, sauces and serves up backyard-and-beach-cookout fare like Italian sausage, barbecue chicken breast, and of course the classic pulled pork sandwich. He hasn’t forgotten the details either, the sides that get your barbecue juices flowing: baked beans, coleslaw, and potato salad, to name a few. Like any great family gathering, the food’s great, free… and there’s plenty of it.

Other cruise lines who don’t leave the barbecue at home are Silversea and the Deck Party Aboard Silver Spirit, which I can personally vouch for being the best barbecue I have ever been to , the atmosphere and food are second to none.  Silversea caps off many warm weather voyages with a spectacular deck party. While each Silversea ship partakes in this tradition, the line’s largest ship—the 540-passenger Silver Spirit—takes the concept to new heights. Several hours before the event, the 9th and 10th decks are prepared for an incredible BBQ with entertainment that ranges from a classical string quartet to singers belting out oldies but goodies. Every chef on board carefully prepares gorgeous presentations that would be right at home at a wedding reception fit for royalty. Guests are wowed by ice sculptures, floral presentations, and intricately carved chocolate designs.

.

Another cruise line is Seabourn and Seabourn’s Caviar in the Surf, every Seabourn vessel hosts “Caviar in the Surf” during warm weather cruises. The beachside BBQ often takes place on Prickly Pear Island in Virgin Gorda when in the Caribbean.  Seabourn’s  maritime bar team sets up a surfboard in the surf that’s piled high with caviar and loaded with dozens of bottles of champagne. Once everyone has a glass, the real fun begins as chefs turn to the grills and cook up a fantastic array of dishes to satisfy any barbecue-goer with classic hamburger-and-hot dog combos or grilled steaks and lobster tails.

Anyway my back garden isn’t quite as grand as the cruise ships decks, but were making the most of this weather while we have it. If you fancy trying the BBQ on any of these cruise lines ,give me a call on 0800 408 6107 , or email me on [email protected]
