Retro vs Modern!

My seven year old recently had his birthday and my brother bought him a retro board game that we played growing up together, called Scramble.
I don’t know if anyone remembers it – my boys have been hooked! It’s been lovely to watch them play together with an old fashioned board game! No computers , no batteries , just good fun in a game that simply requires putting shapes back in a hole before the timer stops – genius!  On the other hand my wife has discovered a game on her Iphone called Candy Crush – it’s the quietest she has been in years – again genius! She matches up candy apparently , a bit like Tetris – for those of you who remember that. It’s got me thinking – Retro or Modern?
Out with the old or in with the new? You could say the same for some of the cruise ships out there. I know I have certain clients that prefer the traditional cruise ships such as Blackwatch , Marco Polo , and even Oriana. Then on the other hand I have those who want to get on the biggest ,latest and ultra modern vessels out there such as Oasis of the Seas, Norwegian Breakaway and The Royal Princess. I personally think a little bit of everything is good for everyone – I love the rock climbing , the surfing , but also enjoy traditional dining , the waiter service and the formal nights. There are pro’s and con’s with everything I suppose – Its nice to have all these activities on a ship but I don’t always necessarily want to queue for them or spend my holiday with everyone else’s children as well as mine. I like a bit of quiet of now and then, but love new technology!
Let me know your thoughts – old or new , or a little bit of both?
