Full Moon, Half Moon…….Total Eclipse!

If your like me then every time you hear the word Eclipse you will probably think of the fantastic Jaffa Cake advert that I have taken my title from for today’s update.

Now whilst Jaffa cakes are great next year a lot more spectacular Eclipse is coming. On the 20th March 2015 a total Solar Eclipse will happen and the best area’s to view it will be Far Northern Europe and the Artic.

For cruise passengers this is something that has proved to be really popular in the past and demand to be in the area for the latest eclipse was very high, so high that the likes Fred Olsen and Voyages of discovery sold out almost as soon as they had gone on sale. Fred Olsen had such a demand that they had people registering to be out on a waitlist 18 months before the departure. I’ve had a few customer recently ask if anything had come available and after doing loads of research I manged to find around 2 cabins had come available with Fred Olsen and Voyages of discovery had 1 cabin and on the whole of it the prices were not to bad for something with such high demand. Fred Olsen have an option sailing on the 9th with fares now from £3299 per person, Voyages of Discovery on the 16th March starting from £2349 per person.

As both cruise have been on sale for some time and are almost full you can understand the cost however I found that Cruise and Maritime have a great alternative on the new ship I mentioned in one of my previous updates, The Magellan and this cruise is it’s maiden voyage on the 15th March 2015 sailing from London Tilbury. It has a lovely itinerary and takes in Scotland, The Shetland Islands, The full eclipse view at sea, Reykjavik in Iceland and the Faroe Islands before returning back to London Tilbury on the 27th March. The prices lead in from as little as £1299 per person based on an inside cabin and that includes a 25% reduction. When you take into account the cost of the other options available it really does seem like excellent value for money
