Are you on a pre Cruise Diet?

Some people might think this is an odd question to start my latest update with but as I am trying to loose a few pounds before a night out at the weekend it got me thinking. Does everyone go on a diet before they go on a cruise? I would love to know what percentage actually do, I would of thought it would be a really high number.

The famed Midnight Buffet!

Most people know about the famed food on board most of the cruise lines and the face that is available almost 24 hours a day. Most people have the attitude that they are on holiday so they don’t have to say no when the normally would. Some even think well I have paid for it so why not. You have people who think they are on a ship in the middle of the ocean so they have nowhere to go for a walk. You retain fluid on on board. Plus don’t forget we all have that one outfit we really want to wear but struggle to fit comfortably into ( hence my pre weekend diet! ). All are very valid points and reasons why the diet would seem to make perfect sense.

Well how about we flip all of this and say you don’t need to diet, why would you?. You can walk miles on a cruise ship from one end to another, going from deck to deck taking stairs all the way. You have jogging tracks, climbing walls, swimming pools and then on most ships you have state of the art gym’s and fitness centers. When you do an excursions you can opt for a walking option rather than a guided bus tour, this can often get you a closer experience to the local sights and sounds and your active all the time.

Walking and exercising around Barcelona!

For food some of the best and most tasty dishes can be really healthy and you can always ask for something to be made up for you if you cant see an option that appeals. A lot of the cruise lines are now beginning to understand this is something that more and more people are wanting. Royal Caribbean for example have a restaurant on board the new Anthem of the seas Devinly Decadence at the Solarium Bistro were the concept is all your favorite meals made fit. See the link for more information    http://www.royalcaribbean.co.uk/our-ships/quantum-class/dining/solarium-bistro.html

Delicious healthy options!

For people who say the retain fluid on the ship buy sealed packs of water when onshore and you can take this back on the ships this should help with your fluids.

Perhaps not that much water

So if we do all do all of the above do we need to go on a pre cruise diet or can we all be healhty when on board. Do we have any volunteers who would tell us what they weigh pre and post cruise to see if the above works and we don’t need to diet?

I need to lose 6 pounds in 3 days to be able to wear my outfit this weekend, I’ll let you know how I get on
