My ‘Bon Voyage’ call with a twist………………………..

The strangest thing happened to me on Wednesday afternoon and I just had to share it with you all. If you regularly book your cruise holiday through www.cruise.co.uk you will know that we always call our clients just before they travel to wish them Bon Voyage and then we call them again soon after they return to ask how their cruise went.

So, Wednesday afternoon I started my weekly calls to clients due to travel in the next few days. Most of them were ‘almost packed’ some hadn’t even started! They were all really pleased to get the call though – one chap was amazed, saying “I thought you’d forget all about us once we’d booked. Thank you so much for your call, it’s most unusual thesedays to get such great customer service”. This though is one of the things we pride ourselves on. We try to ensure that our Customer Service is second to none, and I can assure you that booking your holiday is only the first step for us. We really are with you all the way! And, when a colleague leaves, another colleague takes over their clients and looks after them as well as their own.

So, I make a call to a client who was booked by former colleague Sophie and when I brought their booking up on the screen I couldn’t believe my eyes – they live in the house that I was born in! I called up and the husband answered. I introduced myself and wished him Bon Voyage etc, had the usual chit chat, and then said “I hope you don’t mind me asking but how long have you lived in your house?” He replied that they had lived there since 1969 – they were the people who bought the house off my parents all those years ago! How bizarre is that? I then went on to explain that I was the daughter of Olga and Terry (who he remembered well), and we had a lovely chat. They even have the same neighbours living next door as we had – which leads to another story – their daughter Clare was the ships Doctor for the all womens yacht team captained by Tracey Edwards MBE in 1990.
One simple phone call led to all this – can you believe it?!!
