First British Ship to visit Brisbane

P&O Cruises have announced that the Arcadia and Aurora will be the first British ships to visit Brisbane after the recent flood devastation.  Brisbane is the third largest city in Australia.

The Brisbane floods were the worst they have had since the floods in 1974 and would have been a lot worse if the Wivenhoe Dam hadn’t been built after the 1974 floods.  The floods have affected over 200,000 people.   The ships will be calling at Brisbane as part of their world cruise 2011 programme.  The ships Arcadia which entered service in 2005 holding 2016 passengers and the Aurora which entered service 2000 holding 1870 passengers will visit the city on the 15th and 27th February.  P&O had decided still to travel to Brisbane as it is a big part of the experience for passengers.  P&O will be asking their crew and passengers onboard the ship to donate any Australian dollars they have to go towards rebuilding Brisbane.
