Hola Amigos!
I have just returned from a long weekend in Benidorm.
I booked this as a Christmas present for my Husband, as I had no idea of what to get him – he has enough socks and jumpers already! It is somewhere he has always wanted to visit – why? I don’t really know, I think he thinks it’s something he has missed out on.
It has been many years since I was last in Benidorm, and I wondered if the television shows that have depicted either living in Benidorm or holidaying in the fictitious Solana Hotel have shown the resort in the best light.
So I suppose I had a real sense of trepidation when I arrived in Benidorm on Friday.
Alicante airport was a breeze, well sign posted and the shuttle to our hotel took 1 hour, which was kindly provided as a complimentary service by the hotel.
We stayed at the Don Pancho hotel in the Levante area of Benidorm. This hotel has featured in tour operator brochures for many years and is a favourite for the UK holiday maker. It has also recently undergone a complete refurbishment – done to a very high standard.
They have added two new ” attico ” rooms, which we booked. They are situated on the 18th floor and offer fantastic sea views, privacy and a very high standard of decor, which you can see from the picture below.
We were only there for 3 nights so we didn’t have lots of time to explore any of the areas outside of Benidorm. We did catch a ” Tourist ” bus on the Saturday, it took us from one end of the resort to the other. We visited the Old Town and enjoyed some traditional Tapas and Sangria – a fantastic way to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon – highly recommended!
The resort works hard to maintain the Blue Flag standard for it’s beaches, although it was a little too cold to spend hours lounging about on the beach.
All in all we had an enjoyable time. We thought it was better during the day than night – mainly due to the amount of Hen, stag and birthday celebrations that were going on – it was a really busy weekend!
