Who am I ? My first “passenger” booking of this kind…

Hello,

Well last week saw a very special passenger booking for me, read on to find out more…

If you follow my facebook page you may have noticed a post that I put on Thursday alluding to the “subject” for this blog…

Some of the Questions are very common for all passengers – Name & Age at time of sailing/Date of Birth.. however that is where the similarities stop as we do not need to ask “normal” passengers their Height, Weight or their length… !! Have you guessed it yet ?

Well here are my “passenger’s” answers to some of these questions and their thoughts for their forthcoming cruise which may give you a further clue:…

My Name is: Belle

My Age at time of sailing: 6

My Date of Birth: 18th June 2013

My Weight: 51 lbs

My Height: 18″

My Length: 28″

The cruise line would even like to know my preferred food choice for my cruise..

I will be met at Southampton on check-in and taken to my “accommodation” on board, due to my weight I have to have a lower floor room… I am very lucky as I managed to get the last lower floor room on this sailing…I am going to be cruising on the Queen Mary 2 for a 7 night Transatlantic voyage back to my home in America.. I flew over last year, but I didn’t particularly enjoy the flight – I encountered some difficulties with my breathing and therefore my kind “parents” have decided, for them and me, this is the better way to journey home.  I will have my own “room” but I will be travelling with some others, up to 23, who will hopefully become my friends on our journey.  I have my passport ready and I just need to go and have some injections before my journey.  I am looking forward to my special fleece blanket and I even get my own life jacket.  I am looking forward to spending time with my like minded travel companions, but also to spending some “play time” and walking on the deck with my “parents”..

Yes, after nearly 30 years in the travel industry, I actually made my first reservation for a DOG to travel in the kennels on board the Cunard Queen Mary 2.

Here is a picture of Belle – as provided by her lovely owners… Thank You.

This service is unique to Cunard and only operates on the transatlantic journeys between Southampton & New York.  The kennels accommodate 24 pets – cats or dogs – and depending upon size and weight they have upper and lower kennels.  With larger or heavier dogs needing to be accommodated on the lower kennels and the option to have 2 kennels combined if required.  As Belle mentioned, this is a very popular service and already for a sailing in November this was the last lower kennel available.  So, if you are re-locating to the USA, or returning to the States after a long stay in the UK – as in Belle’s case –  and don’t want to travel without your pet then why not consider this option and make a fantastic journey for both your pet and yourselves.

Some pictures of the play area and a New York Fire hydrant as part of the Kennel facilities, along with one of the lovely Kennel stewards..

Wishing Belle, and her “parents” an enjoyable cruise home and I look forward to an email update on all of their journey later in the year.
