Memories and permanent reminders of wonderful Journeys…

We all return from our holiday with fantastic memories that will hopefully stay with us for a very long time, but how many of you collect anything as a more permanent reminder of your wonderful Journey… ?

Well, here I can personally reveal to you, that i collect Teaspoons…… no, not the ones off of coffee cups from various pavement cafes around the world that I have had the pleasure of sitting at, but the ones specially designed to be a souvenir of your visit to a particular country or of a particular event.

In a recent count, whilst taking them all down to decorate our lounge, I have amassed a collection of over 200 spoons ranging from Henry the 8th and his wives collection, spoons to mark memorable events – Charles & Di’s Wedding, Prince William, Prince Harry & Prince George’s births, Queen’s jubilee, some as gifts from travelling friends & relatives but the largest majority from places that I have visited around the world myself.

The joy, not sure my husband agrees on this, of a cruise is that with so many different ports I can end up coming home with half a dozen new souvenirs for my collection.  Whilst looking through them I did discover that I actually have several from the actual Ships that I have had the opportunity to Cruise on.

P&O – covers all ships – must say slightly disappointed in this one – but still at least can be mass produced and used throughout the fleet..

Who remembers the Airtours Cruise ships ? Bit basic but continuity of the company and lovely anchor representation

Royal Caribbean – Voyager of the Seas – again lovely to see personalised for the ship and with the little ship hanging attachment

Carnival Splendor – amazing detail and lovely momento of my visit for the launch of this ship

Costa Victoria – Probably one of the most intricate handles on a teaspoon i have, although this meant adapting my spoon rack for it to fit !!
