What to do in Cozumel?

Many cruise liners visit the island of Cozumel including Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Princess Cruises, NCL cruises and more. Cozumel is located off the Yucatan peninsular of Mexico across from the resort of Playa del Carmen, and is located in the Caribbean Sea.

I personally have never visited Cozumel before, I have however seen the island from a distance whilst staying in Playa del Carmen , this is the closest I have been!

I thought I would give you a little insight into the many activities and excursions on offer, so if you don’t fancy sitting on the pristine powder white sands you can par take in something more energetic or relaxing in another way!

Snorkelling – Cozumel is famous for its reefs, with many dive schools on the island you are always sure to find an array of snorkelling excursions or dive trips. Many of the reefs are protected areas and you will see schools of vibrant fish! Turtle snorkel trips also available.

Mayan ruins – If you are into something a little more historical then visit the Mayan ruins of San Gervasio which is the largest and most important of the Mayan settlements on the island. The site has fragments of the temple and sculptures , you will definitely get an insight into this lost civilisation!

Catamaran trips – There will always be various catamaran trips on offer, visiting local beaches and offering snorkel stops.

Stingray encounter – This sounds great! Something you won’t get to do normally is swim with stingrays , Cozumel is the perfect destination to do this! You can have a Ray encounter in shallow water where you can pet and feed the rays along with snorkelling with rays in deeper water.

Submarine – Explore under the water without getting wet yourself! the submarine offers an insight into the vibrant reefs giving you change to see the tropical fish and wildlife.

Golfing! – If you have a golf enthusiast with you then why not visit Cozumel country club which offers various golf options and carts for hire.

Cozumel by jeep – Explore the island open a 4×4 jeep, You will drive you own jeep following the guide taking in shopping areas, history sights and beaches.

Tequila tasting ! – When in Mexico you can’t leave without a tequila, or 4! visit the famous Jose Cuervo site , taste Mexico’s finest tequila, learn about the history and maxing of tequila.

Dolphins! – The most popular attraction by far1 Cozumel has one of the top rated parks for experiencing that once in a life time moment of swimming or having a dolphin encounter at very reasonable prices too! Encounters are perfect for children or nervous swimmers and normally include petting the dolphin and activities such as a dolphin kiss and dancing with the dolphin, the swim is a fantastic experience giving swimmers the chance to have a foot push lift and various other activities.

The list goes on, horseback riding, Segway tours , all inclusive hotel break for the day, there really is so much choice if you are visiting Cozumel and something on offer for everybody!
