Unluck for Princess Cruise Australia Passengers

It was bad news for passengers embarking on a 14 day voyage from Freemantle this weekend. Approximately 1900 passengers had boarded the vessel and spent a night onboard only to be told the following day they would need to disembark and the cruise had been cancelled! I would be gutted!

This was all down to a technical fault, reports suggest the ship has been ‘limping’ along on her itinerary’s lately, with slow speeds meaning she was arriving into ports late and missing some ports of call all together.

The Sea Princess is a slightly older ship, she was built in Italy and entered service in 1998 and has sailed for both the P&O brand and then Princess cruises form 2005. She had a huge following with the UK market when she featured her very popular Caribbean fly cruises out of Barbados, the UK market were sad to see this itinerary scrapped and the ship moved to the other side of the world!

The poor Sea Princess hasn’t had much luck lately, also hitting headlines recently after around 400 passengers were struck down with Norovirus on the previous voyage around the Far East.

Although it is very upsetting and sad for the passengers who were due to embark on their 14 day itinerary it is definitely worth considering that it is better to be safe than sorry. Princess have this 2 week slot to ‘hopefully’ fix the technical problems and get the ship back to a healthy state ready to re start her itinerary’s.

Princess have offered passengers a full refund plus a 100% future cruise credit and are helping passengers to arrange transport an flights home.

I have my fingers crossed that the Sea Princess can turn things around and become a great ship once again!

Have you ever had a cruise cancelled?
