My weekend on the Azura

I have recently travelled on a mini cruise on the Azura, a ship with many fond memories after spending 2 weeks onboard a few years back my husband and i decided to head of a weekend trip across to Bruges.

Before we embarked we pre booked to dine in Sindu and seventeen so we would not be using the main restaurant, I would definitely recommend booking online as the speciality restaurant availability gets booked up very quickly!

Unfortunately the weather wasn’t to good on the drive down to Southampton once onboard the azura you could see the sea was looking choppy, and we were only docked!

We headed for buffet lunch and a couple of drinks before making our way to our balcony on Riviera deck. I have to say the balcony’s on azura are a great size, very spacious and bright.

Later that afternoon we went off to the muster drill in which the captain kindly advised that we were in for a bumpy ride! He advised passengers to take there sea sickness tablets if they suffered from motion sickness, which I think was great of him to pre warn his passengers of what was to come. He also mentioned that potentially we may not be able to dock in Bruge but they wouldn’t know for sure until the following morning.

So we headed off to get ready for our evening meal in Sindhu, which was absolutely fantastic! A great menu plenty of choice and I would thoroughly recommend!

The following morning we awoke to the captains announcement to advise because of the rough seas the pilot station for zeebrugge was closed, meaning there were no pilot boats to guide the ship into port, meaning no Bruges!

Unfortunately it is was of those things, the captain cannot force them to open, they are closed for their own safety due to the rough seas and we totally understood and accepted this. It seemed many passengers just wanted to moan!

So we had a lazy day, including breakfast in the main peninsular restaurant, a spot on bingo, lunch in the fantastic glass house, the tapas dishes are to die for! and an afternoon nap!

Again around the ship all day we hear so many people moaning!

It’s a 2 night cruise, they are known as party cruises, you get a lot of stag and hen party’s onboard this is to be expected. There is nothing that can be done to control the weather and safety is the main thing!

On our last evening we visited seventeen, and wow what a restaurant! a beautiful location, on deck 17 we have a window table and found the food and service impeccable, again if you get chance book in to seventeen!

Our reason for this mini break was to relax and eat well, and we definitely accomplished this. It was a great trip but it’s a shame so many people felt the need to moan about pretty much everything, my advice do your research before you go! Except the sailing to be busy with party goers, there are plenty of bars around the ship to find somewhere nice and quiet to have a glass of wine! And safety is first for everyone, if the ship cannot dock for reasons out of there control, accept that and enjoy your day onboard instead!
