Who really enjoy’s long haul flights?

Long haul flights aren’t that fun at the best of times. Some people upgrade to premium economy to make the experience a bit more doable, I always think when choosing this option I would opt for the inbound flight as on the way out you have your holiday to look forward to. Obviously this depends on everyone’s budget as sometimes this can be expensive. For those that fly regularly they probably know the best tips but I thought I would share some not so obvious ones.

Aeroplane

I spoke to a customer who recently returned from a cruise and had a fantastic time, a fantastic time once her luggage had arrived. It arrived 5 days into her cruise- can you imagine? She said by the third day all the other passengers recognised her and her husband due to the fact they were wearing the same clothes. This is a nightmare but unfortunately does happen from time to time. So this got me thinking about packing, the best thing to do is when travelling with family is to split your clothes up amongst the suitcase’s. I always have a suitcase each, but not any more. I will divide the clothes so if the worst happens at least we would have a few items each. Also, a little bit extreme but you could always carry an extra pair of briefs in your hand luggage. Sometimes being practical can be a life saver.

Take your own headphones. I think most people carry headphones theses days and the airlines have probably seen a decrease in sales. Also they aren’t always the best quality and so many people take laptops, ipads with films on , sometimes some airlines don’t offer even in flight entertainment anymore.

Airline food is another biggy- a bit like marmite, you either like it or loathe it. I personally like it and find it breaks up the journey. Okay occasionally the breakfasts are a bit questionable but overall I don’t think their as bad as people make out. If travelling with children its always good to take snacks as it can be expensive on board.

Remember to wrap up warm. When flying at 35,000 feet you can find the temperature drop and they do love to pump out the air conditioning and especially at night if you are trying to sleep, this is not a fun.

And finally this maybe worth a try. Try and be the last person boarding, and if you notice a spare seat in business or even first sit yourself down in it and the cabin crew may not even question it. Anything is worth a try, what’s the worst that can happen you’ll be asked to move back to economy.
