Solo Cruising

After working X amount of years in travel solo cruising is one hurdle I’ve come across lot’s of times, but after reading an article on Solo Cruising the answers are quite simple. It’s quite simply start by looking for cruise ships that offer plenty of single cabins, this is good for two reasons. 1: you won’t have to pay double the price, and 2: there will lot’s of single travellers too that you can meet. This may be good for the future too, not only will you make new friends but you may meet someone to holiday with.  Travelling alone can be daunting, especially if it’s your first time. The best way to overcome this is to join in with as many on board activities as possible. Going ashore may be a bit over whelming but the cruise companies offer lot’s of excursions to choose from which is good to book on to as visiting new places on your own can be daunting. I know if I was in an organised group I would be more at ease knowing I was going to enjoy a nice day trip and return to the ship in one piece.

Also another good tip I came across is,  to speak to the cruise director as they will know they know the cruise better than anybody and can even arrange for you to meet others. The other option of course is opting to share with a fellow single traveller, this obviously comes with a risk that they may be a snorer/sleepwalker but they also be fun too.

The real beauty is you can suit yourself, become a bit selfish and do only the things you want to, even if it’s just for a week or two.
