If you’re like me and after a busy day at work you like nothing more that watching reality TV then you would have probably seen the newest show called The Cruise on ITV. It’s based on Regal Princess and is a real insight into the workings of the ship. I have watched the first two episodes and have found it really interesting. Okay so maybe I’m bit of a cruise ship geek but I find it fascinating watching the staff from the receptionists to the engineers go about their jobs. Last week’s episode was following around the new engineer, a former RAF engineer and he was down at the bottom  of the ship where the engines are and showing around the different areas. When you’re on a cruise you never actually take a moment and think what is going on behind closed doors. We followed a young girl who had got her first job in the entertainment team and it looked really hard work. We’ve all seen the shows on these ships and see the drama behind the scenes is brilliant. The show gives a real to those that live and work on board, from homesickness amongst the staff,  the Chef serving around 20,000 meals a day – chaotic and staff organising excursions.

On week one there was a couple from California who had been on lots of cruises, I think they were up to 100 sea days. Princess was holding a competition for certain passengers to see who had sailed the most and the California couple won- needless to say they won a cruise. On entering the room before the winner was announced the passengers were having a photo opportunity with the Captain , It was like he was a celebrity. I can’t wait for next weeks episode.
