It has recently been announced that the Queen Mary 2 will receive a make over on all or her 172 Grill suites. They will be reconfigured to maximise space, with subtle reference to Cunards history. With bespoke luxury carpet throughout featuring design work  which inspired by rugs from the Original Queen Mary.

Two Grill restaurant’s will also be redesigned to offer sought after tables for two, which are quite a regular request for couples travelling on their own. The tables will also be more spaced apart for a more personal experience. In addition to this there will be loose tables to offer more flexibilty and an improved ambience.

There will be clearer differentiation between the Queen’s Grill and the Prince’s Grill restaurants. The restaurants will be decorated differently and have furnishings that will match each restaurant.

Over the years Cunard have kept to it’s traditional design and furnishings, so it was to be expected that it will try and modernise certain aspects of their ships.  This will have to be carefully done as guests who regularly sail on their fleet expect a certain standard, and I can only imagine would find it disappointing, maybe if it dramtically changed in decor. Cunard have a reputation of tradition so to get the balance right may prove tricky. It will be interesting to see the end results and hear guests feed back.

There will be more enhancements announced in the coming months and I will intrigued to see what they are. Watch this space….
