Merry Christmas Everyone!

Balmoral

I know we say it every year, but where has the year gone?

I have now been with Cruise.co.uk for 8 months and can honestly say I have enjoyed every minute of it. I was fortunate to go on the companies annual Christmas Conference which was 3 nights on Fred Olsen’s Balmoral. It didn’t disappoint one bit, what a beautiful ship. Carrying only 1300 passengers it felt intimate and I regularly bumped into passengers I had had conversations with. (if only I had taken some business card). The first evening was a 70’s theme which was hilarious. There was a few staff members I didn’t even recognise due to them wearing crazy wigs and glasses. I thought one of managers had a good resemblance for John Lennon. We met in the Lido Bar for pre dinner drinks which had a fun atmosphere and then we all headed to the Spey Restaurant for dinner around 20.30. The choice of food was second to none, the taste of the food was mouth watering. Everyone I spoke to said what excellent food it was. After dinner we all headed back to the Lido bar where there is also a dance floor to show your moves. Ha ha ha staying alive, staying alive……

The next day we had our conference in the Neptunes Theatre which is also where we came for that nights entertainment. It was a tribute ELO band. Again this was a fantastic evening, and the size of the theatre was perfect for this size of ship. I loved that the waitresses were up dancing with the guests and you could see everyone having an amazing time. I would like to say that every member of staff you spoke to where lovely and they really give the cruise company a good reputation.

On our third day we had a trip to Brugge, this took about 20 minutes to get to, and what a pitcuresque place this is. If you didn’t already know this, but it is famous for Belgian chocolate, Lace (new one for me) and Belgian Beer. Walking along cobbled streets looking in the traditional shop windows which are all dressed for Christmas it is definitely a sight worth seeing. In the centre there is a Christmas market and an ice rink. We found a small cafe and had a hot chocolate which was delicious.

When we arrived back to the ship we had some free time to explore. We found the spa which offer lot’s of different treatments from a relaxing massage to having your hair styled. This is where the gym is as well.

One of my favourite bars was The Marquee Bar on the top deck. The reason for this is it is nicely decorated with little spot lights all over the ceiling and also the window goes right around so you can get a good view out whilst having a drink.

I can see why clients like the Fred Olsen brand, with some ships getting so big its nice to have traditional ones on a smaller scale. I will definitely go on another one and look forward to it.

Wish all my customers Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
