Celebrity Edge – the ship of the future?

This week saw Celebrity Edge visit UK waters for the first time as it made it’s debut in Europe.

Southampton was chosen as the shining star for the European Launch of the brand new ship, offering a 2 night preview sailing for dignitaries and travel agents alike.

As I enjoyed the launch of MSC Bellissima in March I was not able to attend the sailing on Edge, although some of my close colleagues did and the feedback I am hearing has been exceptionally positive.

It’s our job to be critical so we will pick fault in anything we feel warrants it. That’s what sets us apart from our competitors, if we think a cruise isn’t for you – we will tell you.

At this time, having caught up with my colleagues on board, I can confirm that I have heard of no flaws to the experience they had (except that it wasn’t long enough).

This fills me with great confidence and reaffirms that Celebrity Cruises mantra of ‘Modern Luxury’ rings true and has been at the forefront of their minds whilst designing and ultimately building this new ship.

Bright, open space with elemental and relaxing themes transport passengers to that, almost trance like state of hypnosis that so many of us feel when we settle into ship life and listen to the calming noise of the ocean as we slice through the water to our next destination. It’s been built for the future, the ultimate in luxury, white and grey walls, marble floors and stunning crystal chandeliers pave the way for a new ship experience like no other. This isn’t a floating palace, nor a grand ballroom at sea, it’s a beach club at sea – no gold in sight. Naturally this won’t suit everyone however the clientele that Celebrity attract simply cannot get enough of it.

So what are your thoughts from the pictures and videos you may have seen? Do you fancy it?

Happy Cruising!
