Whats your understanding of Customer Service?

So the question I want to ask you is whats your definition of customer service?

I have been in sales for the past 16 years and I have always tried to give 100% to customer service to the best of my ability. I have recently had an experience that I wanted to share with you. Just like selling a customers dream holiday I went out to find a new car, which is something that we all think carefully about, just like booking your holiday.

I arrived at a main dealer as I had in my head that I would like to buy a Ford Fiesta, something small and economical and of course like every one we all have a budget. A Salesman approached me and asked if he could help. So I started talking with him and telling him what I was looking for. He didn’t ask me very many questions, most of which were closed questions. In my opinion this is a NO NO when your a sales person. You need to ask open questions to allow the conversation and rapport to flow. I advised him my budget and that I wanted to part exchange my existing car. he said I think I have just the car for you Miss Chapman, “Its just come in this morning so I will go and bring it round” I waited in anticipation and thought this could be what I am looking for. OH No that wasn’t the case. It was £2k over my budget, and all he kept saying was the mileage is very low. The inside was not in good condition, he said he would go and check with his manager how much they could offer me for my car. I was shocked to hear that they would try and get the the amount I was looking for. I had advised him that I was looking sort out a deal that day so didn’t even get my buying signals. As you can imagine with this service I left the garage and went somewhere else. It made me realize that you have to listen to your customers, The next garage I visited was amazing, they listened to exactly what I wanted encouraged me to test drive the car. All in all what a lovely experience, friendly, professional staff.

Just to let you know I bought something that I didn’t imagine I would buy, however, i am really pleased with my purchase and would definitely visit this dealer again.
