MSC Seaside – Part 2

Well firstly, Happy New year to you all!

This time I am going to tell you more about the ship and some of my favourite ports of call.

MSC Seaside has just completed it’s first year in service. The reviews were mixed ( As always with MSC) so I was just going out there with an open mind.

It had been 4 years since sailing on MSC Preziosa and had really enjoyed the experience so I was hoping that Seaside would do that too.

I mentioned in my last post that first impressions were great and a familiar grin came to my face that I get when on a cruise. I knew I had made the right decision at that point.

Carrying over 5300 Passengers when fully occupied, Seaside was the largest ship to date I had been on and both weeks were fully sold out. I was anxious to see how all those passengers would disperse around the ship.

By Evening on the first day, it was like another ship. The Atrium was now a calm place compared to the crowds only hours before.

This area was a great social point and there were lots of smaller bar areas to sit in the evening and people watch- Another one of my joys on Cruises. Here are pictures of how the atmosphere changed around the day into evening. You thought you were in a different place on the ship.

Seaside was designed to follow the Sun. It has many outdoor spaces that other ships I have been on just didn’t have. I love being outdoors and a Cruise should do just that without having to get off in every port to get the fresh air.

Our Suite was located on deck 14 and we could visibly see the activities of the Promenade areas from out balcony. This was from the Buffet restaurant located on Deck 8. The outdoor tables meant you could enjoy a meal at whatever time of day watching the world go by.

Here is a picture from our Balcony- Not great I apologize but you can make out the table and chairs all set out. It wasn’t noisy either!

Another great highlight from our trip was the fact we had access to a Suite only Sun Deck. Deck 19 was our haven and as we had an Aurea Suite, guests had exclusive access to a full wrap around area right at the top of the ship.

It would be worth considering paying extra purely for these extras especially if you have a few sea days.

The area was always manned by staff that handed out towels for use whilst up on the deck. it also helped with nosy guests pretending they had gone the wrong way and trying to use the beds.

The were a vast amount of Sunbeds on both sides of Deck 19 and complimented with a Hot Tub in each corner and a lovely shaded bar to join the sides together. Very well thought out and a huge bonus to Aurea Guests especially on those busy sea days.

This Picture was actually taken about 10am on a Sea Day. There was never a mad dash or setting alarm clocks to make sure your beds were reserved.

The bar area really complimented the Deck and the canopies were great at keeping your drinks cool! – Great idea whoever thought of that

They were definitely my best areas on the ship and worth every penny we spent. it never felt crowded at all so the design certainly worked for us.

Until next time!
