Another Iconic Journey

Later this year  my neighbouring City will get to witness one of the worlds most famous Cruise liner depart from their shores once again.

The Famous Queen Mary 2 will depart on a Northern Atlantic Westbound Crossing to New York.

The voyage, which is new for 2019 and will combine a classic Transatlantic Crossing with discovery days in maiden port Reykjavik, Iceland will depart Southampton on July 14th, arriving into Liverpool on July 16th.

It is in response to the requests of fellow Travel agents that it released this Liverpool departure later this year.

The trip will include some maiden Ports of Call for the Ship. She will sail on to Nova Scotia and Halifax before arriving into the Big Apple  on 28th July.

Cunards Sales Director Gary Anslow is said to be delighted that they have been able to add on Liverpool.

Cunard was based in Liverpool between 1839 and 1967 and the Cunard Building remains one of the city’s most famous landmarks. I was lucky to experience a Visit on board Queen Victoria when she Visited Liverpool several years ago and have actually sailed on board Queen Mary 2. Liverpool was such a welcoming city for its Cruise Ship visits offering street parties and firework displays to impress the guests.

Cunard are steeped in history and have extremely strong ties with Cunard. it seems only right to increase the number of northern departures from this ever more popular port.

In 2015 over a million people lined the banks of the Mersey when Cunard’s three Queens met to celebrate the cruise line’s 175-year anniversary.
