My cruise on Ventura. Only one thing let it down…..

ventura 2

Well I have just got back from three days on the Ventura. I must admit i loved it.

I haven’t ever been on a three day cruise before. Some people would tell me it was a great way to see whether or not I would enjoy the ship and others would say it is a booze cruise with no comparison to the longer version. In my opinion it was a bit of both. It was a great way to see he ship and I would definitely go on the Ventura again. It wasn’t exactly a booze cruise like you would see in Magaluf however there were a few stag and Hen parties on board. The ship was so big there is something for everyone.

Cabins- I was lucky enough to have a balcony cabin. This was a great size with a huge double bed. Bigger than some of the other cruise ships I have been on. If you can get an upgrade to a balcony I would say it is worth the money.

Entertainment- Day- entertainment is great. There is as least 2-3 choices of activities to do every hour. There was quizzes, Bingo (with a £1100 jackpot) Dance classes Croquet, football and Golf. There was something for everyone.

Entertainment-Evening- The show we saw was called reel to reel this was a celebration of brutish films through the years. They are very good at what they do and well worth watching. We also saw a take that tribute band. This was what my wife wanted to do. (Obviously i’m not a fan). If you want something more chilled you could go to one of the bars and listen to acoustic music. Or why not try a bit or ballroom dancing.

Childrens facilities – I went during half term so there were quite a few children on board this family friendly ship. They were happy in the pool or in the children’s club.

Swimming pools- There were 3 pools on board. One was adults only. They could do with being a bit bigger really. I didn’t go in the pool as it was too cold. I did however spend a lot of time in the Jacuzzi.

Drinks- I was Surprised how reasonably priced the drinks were. A cocktail was between £5 and £8 a botle of beer was £3 and soft drinks were £2. You can add a drinks package with P&O but thought it would be better value not to add this on.

Day in Bruges- We Visited Bruges while we were there. I would highly recommend this. Bruges is a lovely city. P&O offer and excursion called Bruges on your own. This cost £35. There is a bus that will take you into Bruges return for £20. This was the better option for me. It is very easy to do on your own.

Food- This is the only part of the Cruise that let it down slightly. The food was okay but didn’t wow me. I understand they have a lot of people to cater for but would probably recommend paying for one of the specialty restaurants if food is a big thing for you. Im not that fussy when it comes to food and it was okay but I can image if I was on a longer cruise I would be a bit peeved with it.

Summary- All in all I had a fantastic time and would do this again. For those of you that have never done a taster I would highly recommend it. The price is great if you compare 3 days away in this country. If you have any questions then you can message me and I will be happy to help
