After hearing the news that Emirates are going to start charging you to pre book your seats with them, I felt absolutely disgusted. The Dubai carrier is introducing an advance seat selection fee, which extends further than its normal two day check in window.

The cost for booking your seats with them can be as much as £35 per person each way. It is just getting crazy that yet another multi million pound airline has to charge you to sit in one of there seats, after you have already splashed out your hard earned cash to pay for the fare.

A Spokesman for Emirates has said “The charge will be minimal and will only be applicable on special and saver fares”

Emirates, which was named the best airline in the world in July by the aviation consumer website Skytrax, reported $1.93 billion profits last year. The airline currently operates the world’s largest long-haul international fleet, with roughly 250 aircraft — consisting mostly of Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 jets.

Children of two or under will be exempt. How very kind of them.

You will still be able to book your seats free if done when check in opens 48 hours before.

Don’t get me wrong, Emirates are a world class airline however this is another way to make more and more money. I would totally understand why some of the low cost airlines have to charge as they are advertised as a low cost brand and they have to compete with other budget friendly competition. What will they start doing next? Maybe start charging you for using the toilet?!

I cant help but think the rising cost of the fares and the extra charges will start putting people off from going away. More and more people will start looking for holidays a home.

I would like to hear your thoughts on this. Would this put you off from going? Do you think they need to do this? Are you as annoyed as I am?
