Holidaymakers suffer as US begins Attractions Shutdown

The Us Federal Government has begun a partial shut down in a move that will hit thousands of holidaymakers to the US including cruise passengers.

National Parks, museums, federal buildings and services closed from yesterday after the US Congress failed to agree a budget by midnight on 30th September. This means over 700,000 federal workers are have been sent home with no pay, whilst the law makers are still bringing home the bacon.

Even our own Piers Morgan jumped in on the debate as he dedicated his whole ‘Piers Morgan Tonight’ show to the topic last night, and what heated debates they had.

But what does this me to you and me, the tourists in this game of pawns. Is it really going to affect us?

Yes is the resounding answer!! When you are planning for a holiday what do you do? You scourer the internet looking for all the major attractions of interest to you. You schedule them into your time frame. You book you tickets in advance as not to be disappointed. But with hundreds of places affected, including the Statue of Liberty, Yosemite National Park, 19 museums, numerous galleries, zoo’s and Mount Rushmore all closed both day visitors and overnight visitors have been turned away at the gates.

Imagine doing a Transatlantic Cruise to New York and you are there for only two days to see the major sites, how disappointed would you be!

With it all out of our hands all we can do is wait until the US government gets their act together and the country gets it fantastic historical site up and running again.
