Cabin Grades

Are you happy to spend so much more to have a higher grade cabin?

I have been on 4 different cruise lines and I can honestly say that the grade cabin does not bother me in the slightest. I first cruised with P&O and had an outside cabin. Fantastic to be able to see out of the cabin but does this really matter? The last 3 cruises I have been on have all been inside cabins, has this made any difference to my cruise experience – NO!

Although saying that if I was to have been upgraded to a an outside or balcony I certainly wouldn’t say no. I have been in a friends balcony cabin and would agree that they are great. However most cruise lines are going down the route of not being able to smoke on balconies. So will this affect the amount of smokers that normally book a balcony cabin? Some smokers have advised me before they book balcony cabins so they have the freedom of smoking on their balconies rather then running up to an open deck just so they can smoke?

In some cases, it appears that for a small supplement you can upgrade to a outside or balcony cabin. Which in my case I would not mind paying a small additional supplement. However some cruise lines are charging some big supplements and in my mind I would rather pay for a leading inside cabin and spend my money on excursions or my bar bill. Is it just me or am I money sensitive? I think this day in age most customers are savvy with their money and to right so. So does a cabin grade define your cruise experience? Some customers would say yes and some would say no. What do you think???
