Would you Cruise in Hurricane Season?

HiRes

As Hurricane Matthew Caused  caused  chaos  across the cruise industry last week it got me thinking if  is it really worth taking the risk of cruising in the Hurricane season?

Almost every cruise line had to make some alterations to their itineraries last week and over the weekend to ensure their guests safety was maintained here a just few of the cruise ships that were impacted.

Norwegian Escape

The ship missed  calling at Nassau, Bahamas On Friday, October 7. Instead, the ship stayed at  at sea before arriving back into Port Miami on Saturday, October 8.

Norwegian sky

The ship’s  October 3rd  sailing had already been adjusted from a Bahamas cruise to a western Caribbean cruise with calls at Key West and Cozumel. The ships October 7 departure from Miami was  expected to go ahead as normal but the cruise line was  asking guests to arrive at the terminal no earlier than 11:00 AM

Norwegian Breakaway

To keep away from nay storm threat including Hurricane Matthew and Hurricane Nicole the ship departed Bermuda two hours earlier on October 7. the ship will arrive back in New York on schedule.

Norwegian cruise line of course wasn’t the only cruise line to have been effected Royal caribbean private island near coco cay was reportedly damaged but the information was sketchy as to what extent

Now overall i’m sure lots of people were inconvenienced by this but the cruise lines have done a fantastic job in steering away the ship from the storms and i haven’t heard of anyone experience unpleasant cruises die to the effects of the Hurricane

So is it worth cruising in Hurricane season? well i would say so id rather be on a Ship which can alter its course than be on land where we would have no choice but to either ride it out or leave the area.
