P&O Oriana is having a facelift!

On the back on NCL Jade’ s announcement it was due to go under a major refurbishment Another cruise line  is about to go under the knife and we are lucky enough to be having them both sailing out of the UK next year.

P&O Cruises has revealed further information — including a detailed infographic — on their plans for the refurbishment of the line’s 69,000-tonne, 1,800-passenger Oriana ship next month.

It had been reported  in August that  the adult-only ship will undergo a three-week refurbishment that will see cabins, restaurants and all public spaces updated before the end of 2016. Cabins and suites will receive new soft furnishings, refreshed furniture and upgraded bathrooms, while other areas to receive an upgrade include Lord’s Tavern sports bar, Riviera Bar, The Conservatory restaurant, the ship’s Oasis Spa and gym, and the Theatre Royal.

The Oasis Spa will receive new tiling in the thermal area, plus modern new furniture and gym equipment. Passengers can also expect luxurious heated loungers and a living plant wall in the spa area. The ship’s Theatre Royal will benefit from fresh seating upholstery and new sound and lighting equipment.

Cruise line p&O has also revealed that the ship’s upgrades are based on customer  feedback, with “a range of subtle upgrades that will have a big impact without losing any of the ship’s unique charm.”

The cruise liness  senior vice president Paul Ludlow said: “We want Oriana’s guests, both returning and new, to feel that they are sailing on the most elegant and charming ship.

“From what our guests have told us we know that retaining the traditional elements that are unique to Oriana is as important as rejuvenating the ship – so that’s what we’re aiming to do.”

Following the ship’s refurbishment, Oriana will set sail on short cruise to Zeebrugge from Southampton on December 16, 2016, before embarking on a 17-night Canary Islands’ itinerary on December 18.
