Our recent trip on Independence of the Seas

I have recently returned from a cheeky 3-night trip onboard the Independence of the Seas with my partner and our 2 excited daughters and I have to admit, I can see why everyone loves her!

We enjoyed stops in Rotterdam and Brugges although we stayed onboard in Brugges as we had a great weather day and our kids were itching to go swimming and take full advantage of Slashaway Bay!

Sadly with my busted arm I couldn’t take full advantage of the new features or try my luck on the Flo-Rider but I still loved every minute we had onboard. With Royal Caribbean, I have to admit, the staff really made the trip, with constant smiles and great attention to detail, they really ensured we had the best possible short break. The food, entertainment, facilities and bar menu were top notch and definitely too much to cover in just 1 blog, so in this one I just wanted to cover a general overview of the ship and what impressed most.

One thing which may seem a bit odd to be impressed with was the lifts! On every other ship I have been on, the lifts have been slow or constantly full meaning long waits, which, with a hyper 6-year-old, is not ideal. No such issue on Indy, with not 1 occasion of the lift being full on arrival and them turning up super quick, they were great. On the 1st night, they even put a pianist in one of the lifts and we still managed to get in!

Our cabin, an inside 4 birth (you’d have thought we would have been upgraded eh!) was perfectly formed and we didn’t really spend a great deal of time in it, but the beds were very comfy and the kids loved the bunks, with a ladder each meaning we could have the beds together below, ideal.
