Miracles do happen

Following on from my recent blog about a baby born at sea

Little ‘Haiden Morgan’ was born on the ‘Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas ‘ whilst at sea and is now known as the miracle baby .

The couple were on a 7 night Caribbean cruise with their 3 year old daughter when the lady went in to labour months earlier that her due date. The doctor had cleared her travel plans as she her original due date wasn’t until December.

The mother said
“At 1:20 a.m., the doctor came over, looked at me and said, ‘Keep your legs closed. Don’t push because we are not porting for another 14 hours,'”
Although the baby had no plans of staying put as just 30 minutes later he was born.

Little baby Haiden was born at 1 pound, 8 ounces.

Initially the medical staff believed the baby was born dead and was taken away from the mum but 45 minutes later after the baby had been delivered the two doctors came back to tell the mother that the baby was still alive but it was really a waiting game.

The ship’s captain, who also believed the baby was dead, called Emily hours after her delivery and was thrilled when he could hear the baby crying and promised the mum to get them to port as fast as he could.
The cruise ship docked in Puerto Rico in the time the captain had promised and they were transported to hospital where they stayed for 3 days until they were allowed to
After spending three days in Puerto Rico and making numerous phone calls, the Morgnas were able to get a medical transport plane to fly them to a Miami hospital. They’ll spend the next month there.

“His feet are 2 inches long and his hands are about an inch and a half,” Emily said. “His body length is about 13 inches, but his lungs were fully developed, so his prognosis is good,” she said. “On a daily basis they tell us he’s a miracle baby and that he wants to be here.”iStock_000044409314_Medium baby
