My Perfect Day!

So it’s back to work after 2 whirlwind weeks. As you know I got married on 26th July and it was just the most amazing day, everything went to plan and everyone enjoyed themselves – I hope…

We planned the wedding in 2 & a half months and did it on a budget so it can be done and it was perfect. I ordered my dress on-line but it was slightly too long so had to have it altered and they did a great job I was really please with it and loved wearing it. Kim’s dress was her prom dress from last year so at least she got another wear out of it.

The ceremony was held at Coventry Registar Office at 11 am – I stayed at The Village Hotel the night before with my daughter Kim and a few family & friends who had travelled from Bolton, Manchester & Liverpool to be there. We had a lovely evening as hadn’t seen some of them for years so was nice to have a catch up before the big day.

I wasn’t nervous at all in the morning but didn’t sleep very well, I was up at 5am and sat outside the hotel with a coffee to get some air.  The hairdresser & make-up lady arrived at 7.30 after we had breakfast ( Kim made me eat as really didn’t want anything). Myself and Kim had our hair & make-up done preffesionally in the hotel room, I was really pleased with it as Leanne did a great job.

Once I was ready my female family members came to the room & we had a small glass of champagne to toast the day. It was lovely.

My brother Paul was giving me away but only drove down on the Friday morning as left baby Ethan at home in Manchester with his nana so they could enjoy the day with their daughter Jessica who is 2 and was my flower girl.  Paul was also driving me, Kim & Jessica to the Registar Office so that saved us the cost of paying for wedding cars.  He even put a wedding ribbon on it which was a surprise for me.  My nephew Connor was the ring bearer and carried the rings in a cushion with our names & the date on.My transport

All the guests were waiting outside when I arrived, we just had family and a few close friends all day, the rest of our friends were coming in the evening. There were about 40 people at the ceremony.  So lots of photos were taken – I didn’t know who to look at until the photographer said ‘ Me – the one your paying’ – that was funny!

The ceremony went really well and I’ll never forget the look on Adam’s face when he saw me walk down the aisle – it was priceless.  The actual ceremony only lasts about 15 minutes but was very special all the same.  There were a few tears from myself & Adam and the family as was such a lovely day. We had lots of photos taken after the ceremony in the room & in the courtyard, here are a few of my favourites:-

Far too many to put them all on….

We then headed to a local pub for a carvery, our friend is one of the managers there so had set the tables out like a proper wedding breakfast, it was a lovely meal. We stayed here till about 4pm chatting to our guests and having a few drinks – it  was really lovely, chilled and relaxed.

A lot of the guests were staying at the Village Hotel too so we headed back to the hotel to freshen up ready for the evening reception at 7pm, some of the guests who live local went home then came back at 7pm. Everything just flowed and there were no mishaps.

At 6.30pm we headed to the Standard Triumph Club were our reception was being held.  My friends Tara & Karen had decorated the room with balloons & banners and it looked amazing.  Guests started to arrive from 7pm.  We had a really great night and danced the night away.

After myself & Adam had done our first dance to ‘Elton John – Your Song’ I then danced with my Uncle for the dad & daughter dance as lost my dad 5 years ago, we danced to ‘Dance with my Father -Luther Vandross’ – it was lovely but I did shed a few tears along with a few others i think.

We then cut the cake which was made by a good friend of mine as our wedding present, she did a great job and it was really tasty.

We chatted to our friends & family, had a fantastic buffett, not that I ate much as was too excited and dance the night away.

The whole day was perfect and I couldn’t have wished for a better day, we had the weather on our side and our family & friends with us – what more could you wish for.

On the Saturday we headed off to Bolton to stay with my sister before flying off to Barcelona on the Sunday for our honeymoon. The first stop was to visit my dad’s grave and put mine & Kim’s bouquets on for him – I know he was there in spirit at the wedding.

We flew off to Barcelona with my sister & 2 nephews, my mum wasn’t very well so couldn’t attend the wedding or come on the holiday as we were celebrating her 70th birthday on board The Norwegian Epic…

More on the honeymoon next time……….
