Crystal – What shall I wear ????

I am getting my suitcase out and off on my travels next week on a four night trip aboard the Crystal Serenity.  Having mostly travelled on the likes of Royal Caribbean, Msc, and Cunard etc. I am faced with a huge dilemma as to what to pack for a six star luxury cruise.  My flip flops and shorts defiantly won’t cut it so I am scouring through my wardrobe and picking out my finest dresses and shoes to make sure I fit in with my fellow travels onboard.
Good news for travellers for 2013 though as we have just received news that crystal have been listening to feedback from guests and have decided to update the recommended dress codes to reflect the continually evolving , more relaxed dress codes reflected by people travelling onboard their ships from all across the world.
Recommended Attire
During the day, casual wear is appropriate in any onboard lounge and dining venue. This includes resort-style attire, shorts and jeans. After 6:00 p.m., shorts and baseball caps are not permitted for men or women. For all venues on board, the recommended evening attire is one of the following:
Resort Casual: Slacks and a sweater or shirt for men; casual dress, skirt or slacks with a sweater or blouse for women. Ties and jackets are not required.
Elegant Casual (Informal): Suit or slacks with a jacket over a sweater or shirt for men. Ties are optional. Cocktail dress, skirt or slacks with a sweater or blouse for women. Jeans are not appropriate.
Black Tie (Formal) Optional: While Elegant Casual is always appropriate in the evening, a Black Tie Optional evening offers a celebratory opportunity to dress more formally on a special evening(s). For men, this includes a dark suit with tie or tuxedo; for women, this includes a formal cocktail dress, evening gown or dressy evening separates. On Black Tie Optional evenings, we request that jeans not be worn in any dining venues or lounges, including the Casino.

With this new policy, you can expect the following:
7- to 10-day cruises: 1 Black Tie Optional evening
11- to 13-day cruises: 2 Black Tie Optional evenings
World Cruises, Holiday voyages and crossings may be scheduled differently.

I personally love to get all dressed up as you really don’t get that much opportunity to do so at home unless you are off to a wedding or formal evening out.
Look out for my next blog where I will post you some pics of me on the Crystal Serenity in my finery.
