Part 2
Eating and Dining
As you would expect on a cruise there is no shortage of Food.
This ship has the usual Royal Caribbean favourites like the Café Promenade and the Patisserie which replaces the Cupcake parlour you may know from some of the other Royal Caribbean Ships. The ship also has a second café the Café 270 and of course Sorrentos.
It also has a Johnny Rockets but not like you know Johnny Rockets. This is a fast food takeaway version??? Not sure I prefer it as after all part of the fun was the dancing and the singing but maybe you can tell me different when you experience it.
One of the fabulous things about Anthem of the Seas is the new concept in Dining.
I can assure you that it is revolutionary and as far as I could see it will work well.
Guests will have a choice of Dynamic Dining where they can go into any of the 4 free restaurants at any time. They can turn up on the night or they can pre-book before they even arrive on the ship.
Alternatively you can opt for Classic1 or Classic2 Dining. This is basically first of second sitting. If you choose this option when you board the ship there will be a dining schedule in your cabin telling you which restaurant you will be eating at on which night and you will rotate around the free restaurants.
In each of the restaurants tables have been allocated to the different dining types and if you choose the Classic option your Table companions and waiter etc. will rotate around with you.
If you are a Suite guest you get to dine in the Coastal Kitchen which is exclusively for you.
I tried lots of little delicacies whilst on-board from the Speciality Restaurants and ate in the Silk Restaurant and the Grande. As this was a taster cruise we had a varied menu from all the free restaurants so I got to sample dishes from all the main four including Chic and the Icon Grill
I like the fact that you feel more like you are in a Restaurant than you normally do in the vast canteen style spaces with tables clothes that you normally get. The whole experience felt more like speciality dining. The food was of a very high standard and was well presented.
Here are just a few samples of what I had.
Even the Windjammer had been re-vamped with little food stations instead of the traditional long counter making it easier to find what you wanted and the tables were interspersed with borders and plants to make it feel more like exclusive dining.
In the SeaPlex there is also a first for Royal Caribbean – The SeaPlex Dog House! I am sure this will be a favourite teenage haunt.
In addition there are 7 other Speciality Dining Experiences which incur a cover fee
Jamie Oliver’s – Italian – This is what it says and from the taster session I had will certainly deliver on flavour.
Heston Blumenthal’s – Wonderland – You have to see this to believe it. I tasted the Olive Jelly which were superb. Featuring the talents of chef Cornelius Gallagher
Michael Schwartz – Genuine Pub – Gastro Pub food at its best. The ship does not have its usual Dog and Duck or Dog and Badger etc. instead it has this great feeling Bar with tasty satisfying food on the menu
Devin Alexander’s – Devinely Decadence – Indulgent yet extraordinary dishes under 500 calories and some of the delights on offer may surprise you. I loved this fresh feeling space and am sure it will appeal to many who want to dine in style but not over indulge.
Isumi Japanese – Again this does what it says on the tin with traditional Japanese cuisine. I have to say this would definitely be one of my favourite haunts as I love Sushi.
Chops grille – Any Royal Caribbean Regular will know this Iconic option and true to form as a signature restaurant it does not disappoint, proudly presenting quality, hand-cut steaks.
Prime Table – This is located within Chops grille in an intimate, exclusive enclave this private epicurean experience for up to 16 people treats you to a five-course, upgraded steakhouse menu and wine tasting. Great for large parties and special events.
For food lovers and lovers of fine dining this ship will definitely hit the mark.
