It Must Be Love, Love, Love!

Exciting times in our family this week as my son and his beautiful girlfriend announced their engagement! We all knew it would happen sooner or later, but to say I am buzzing is an understatement. Now it begins, wedding preparations and of course being in the travel industry I am keen to share honeymoon plans with them!

When my husband and I had our honeymoon we spent a few days in New York before going on a Caribbean cruise which was wonderful but of course you don’t have to be on your honeymoon to have a really romantic cruise either!  I do think that romance and cruising go together from pictures of couples holding hands looking at the sunset or enjoying a glass of bubbly on your balcony. I know it does sound a bit “cheesy” but cruising can be very romantic you know! With that thought in mind, I have had a think on who offers the best for romance, let’s see if you agree!

If I am totally honest with you the cruise line that tops the romance stakes for me has to be Paul Gaugin. Small ships which constantly sail around the Pacific islands which is my ultimate on a wish list. For me the ships are wonderful but equally if you are looking for the remote, lush island destinations that will go to the top of the romance lists surely?

If you want the facilities of a big ship then how about NCL? I like the dining with them which is go when you want and just have a table for the two of you, no more sharing if you don’t want to! If you can then try to stay in one of the Haven suites. These are located away from the rest of the ship and have added extras such as access to an Asian inspired pool area, and breakfast’s and lunch in one of the speciality restaurants.

Lastly I think Princess do really well with a spot of romance. Stay in a mini suite or suite along with a few perks such as complimentary mini bar or complimentary use of the Spa thermal suite.  The most romantic option you can have is the “ultimate balcony dining experience” yes, you need to be staying in a balcony cabin of course, but you do get (for a small fee) a lobster dinner with champagne . If that does not suit you can pick a balcony breakfast.  Princess of course have the movies under the stars – ok it has other people there but I think thats pretty nice, snuggled up.

With most of the cruise lines such as P&O, Royal Caribbean to name a few, you can purchase flowers, wine champagne etc before you go OR how about booking a couples massage in the spa, is that not romantic? Maybe not!

What will my son and future daughter in law decide on? It will probably be another trip to Florida as they love Disney but maybe this time I can get them on a cruise!
