Booze Cruise – You Decide!

What is a booze cruise?  I’m sure many of you would suggest it is when people just sit around and drink themselves silly all day long! Yes, there are people out there who want to do this however, there are also so called “booze cruises” which are in fact informative and interesting cruises, people who love a nice glass or two of wine and want to have a drink related theme cruise. Complicated it may sound but actually its not!

Let me give you some examples of what I think are good “booze cruises”  Something that is different would be sailing through the Scottish Islands with Hebridean Princess (on the actual ship the Queen has used no less!). If you are a lover of whisky then this is for you as they visit quite a few distilleries and onboard they have over 60 brands of different whisky to try.

If we want to venture onto the small, luxury ship market then how about Sea Dream as they do different wine voyages in the Med. Crystal have a “wine and food” cruise along the Amazon in October of this year. On this cruise you will meet a a mixologist who will gladly let you try some of their latest “recipes”.  Probably the most popular type of “booze cruise” is on a European river cruise. Avalon, Viking, APT and AMA all have wine themed cruises, from the Danube, Seine, Douro to name but a few.  They include special tastings and tours and if wine is not your taste, Avalon even do a beer cruise along the Danube.

Thats the “booze” themed cruises sorted then, however, if you don’t fancy these then there are plenty of ships that can offer something a bit different. For example on the Celebrity Eclipse, Solstice and Constellation you can go to the Cellar Masters which has loads of different wines you can sample. Or on Cunard Queen Mary or Victoria, you have the fab Veuve Clicquot champagne bar. Serving up seven different varieties of the high-end drink bearing its name, along with sampling some caviar and canapes, sitting in the most fantastic 1920’s setting.  I also do not want to forget Royal Caribbean’s Vintages which is situated in Central Park. Or indeed Princess Cruises Vines, and finally the Glass House on Britannia, created by Olly Smith.

What is a booze cruise then? I shall leave that for you to decide!

Till next time
