Amazing Seabourn

As you most probably know by now, I am back from the most fantastic trip with Seabourn. I am really struggling to actually put down in words how amazing they are. Having sailed with many a cruise line, they are quite simply the best!

The Odyssey only has 455 passengers on board so I hope you can get the feel of the spaciousness everywhere. The suite we had (we can not call this a cabin, although it was just a normal balcony) was huge! Bathroom with a full size bath, separate shower with a door (yes, my pet hate is a curtain) 2 sinks and a vast amount of “Molton Brown” toiletries.” A huge walk in wardrobe come dressing area with loads of hanging space, drawers, a safe, 2 dressing gowns and lovely fluffy slippers! As you venture into the suite there is more drawers and cupboards, a lovely tv, settee, table for dining if you want and a lovely big balcony.  In the suite you have a fridge which is filled with drink, so if your choice is gin, you have bottle of gin and once you drink it you can get more – amazing!  Champagne of course on arrival with a couple of canapes!

Dining on a Seabourn ship is pretty amazing too. There is one main restaurant which you can just turn up when you want. There is a grill by the pool, the Colonnade restaurant which is buffet at breakfast and lunch time and then waiter service at night.  If you choose this restaurant you can sit outside too.  Then there is the “exclusive” restaurant the Grill by Thomas Keller. For this you do need to book.  Food was wonderful with a great choice and puddings to die for. Last but not least you can dine in your suite too.

Main activities on board are of course the beautiful pool, a bit of mini golf, quizzes, a card room which has every game you can think of. A gym, a spa (very nice!) and of course in the evenings you have the daily evening entertainment. This changed every night from a very funny comedian from Liverpool to a Rat Pack show, a singer who was fantastic to a dance type show.  During the day too there are cookery demonstrations, yoga and Pilates lessons, excursion chats etc etc.

I will of course let you more next week, I really just wanted to give you an insight for now.  One thing I have pondered on since I got back though is the cost. Most people will say looks great but very expensive however in response to that I will say if you look at the main cruise lines who seem to be charging more and more once a client is on board (drinks, tips) and then you have to wait ages for service from them. Compare this to Seabourn. Tips and drinks included – service with a smile!

Many of you are not happy with some of the cruise lines so maybe it is time to just save a bit more and sample something as luxurious as these? I promise you will not regret it!

Till next time x
