Kayaking with the First Officer or Shopping with the Chef?

Top rated in the Conde Nast Travel awards, as well as receiving many other awards, SeaDream Yacht have two super luxurious  mega yachts SeaDream I and SeaDream II both designed as prototypes for the ultra-luxury yachting experience.  They have recently in 2013 received two top rating in the Boutique Ship category in the Berlitz guides.

SeaDream offer voyages in all parts of the World so not to worry about flying to Exotic locations, they offer cruise in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Transatlantic, Northern Europe, Costa Rica and Asia-Pacific and Northern Australia.

SeaDream Yachts have two identical ships offering Teak Decks, inviting lounges and elegant restaurants. SeaDream yachts reflect a distinction for style and quality at the same time offer a causal yachting experience.

There Moto is ‘Its yachting, not cruising’ Enjoy the difference. With 112 guest and 95 crew the crew to passenger ratio is almost 1:1 meaning that you can be pampered throughout you cruise, the idea is to treat the experience as if you are on a private yacht, be as active and lively as you feel, or just sit be the pool and take it all in but one thing is for sure you will do it in the ultimate luxury and privacy of a private yacht.

The lead in staterooms on these Yachts are Ocean View meaning not an Inside insight, all staterooms offer a choice of twin or queen size beds, great for a couple of a romantic holiday or two friends who enjoy the luxury of a high starred cruise line, the staterooms also have a large seating area with a sofa, dresser and writing table with a chair and a cocktail table and flat screen television, the staterooms also have a large spacious closet. There is also a large marble bathroom with a multi jet shower.

These cabins are on Deck 2 and have two nautical window, the cabins on the higher decks 3 and 4 are identical in size except the size of the window.

If you want something a little bit more upmarket why not try an Commodore Suite, these are double the size of the normal Ocean View cabins, they feature two large picture windows, two bathrooms both with multi jet showers. One half of the cabin is made up of a large living space and the other side is made up of the bedroom with twin or queen size beds, again with a living area. Basically it is two ocean view cabins put together

The next option is to upgrade to the Admiral suite, these are casually and well-appointed staterooms, the stateroom features a separate living and dining area, master bedroom with a private bathroom with both the multi jet shower and an extra-large tub. These suites are bright and spacious with the help of one large panoramic window in the Master bedroom and 2 panoramic windows filling the large living room with light. These are great if you are travelling in a group as it has a separate toilet for guests.

The Owners suite is larger than the Admiral suite however does not have any more rooms, still has the separate Living area and master bedroom, the bathroom this time has grand views of the sea that can be seen while relaxing in the bath, most offer features of the Owner and Admiral suites remain the same.

The mega yachts have 6 decks altogether with plenty of space to relax onboard, they have spacious teaks decks with a large pool and Jacuzzi on deck 3 along with the expected pool bar so you can chill in the pool with a cocktail in hand. It has the normal casino, bars and lounges and for those wanting a little pamper there is an excellent spa and fitness centre on board to.

The fare you pay is very inclusive, all staterooms are ocean view unfortunately they are no balcony staterooms or suite however the expansive deck space does make up for this, on the larger cruise ship you tend to fit over the deck chairs so you have a balcony you wont have this on SeaDream so not to worry about not having any where to relax!
In more detail the staterooms feature flat screen televisions, CD/DVD players, IPod docking station, mini bar, multiple head shower unit, Bvlgari Bath amenities, personalized stationery, exclusive Belgian linens and plush terry bathrobes to ensure you have every luxurious extra to hand! 24 hour room service is also provided from the ‘Small Bites’ menu.

All meals served on board a gourmet and SeaDream only offer the open seating so not stuffy dining times to worry about, you can choose to eat inside at the Dining Salon or maybe for those hot summer nights a bite to eat at the Al Fresco, the outdoor topside restaurant.

Tipping is always a big topic when cruise, do we prepay, or do we do it ourselves…. On SeaDream all tips are included meaning you do not need to worry about it.

The ship has an open bar policy with a selection of premium brands so there is never the need to worry about what you are spending, also it means you don’t go without as sometimes you do tend to find you have to stop yourself, well not on SeaDream you can drink till your heart’s content. In addition to the open bar, there is a selection of wines to accompany lunch and dinner.

SeaDream also offer the Toys!! From the yachts marina you can choose to use a selection of toys how about a trip out on a wave runner or maybe a ‘Glass Bottom’ Kayak, hobbies cats, snorkel gear, water skiing and loads more to do on the ocean or maybe you can see yourself, drink in hand on the banana boat? For those who are not so much for the water, how about a round of golf? The ships both feature a state of the art Golf Simulator with 30 signature golf courses. The is also the option to use the mountain bike to explore the shore…

Now here is one thing I don’t think any off the other cruises lines offer, and the highlight for the title of this blog! With SeaDream you can do activities with the crew, maybe a bike ride or a hike? You can do snorkelling with on of the crew or even go shopping with the Chef…

So if you want a bit of a more relaxed day they is a fully stocked library with over 1200 books and an extensive CD and DVD library. You can also take advantage of the laptops for use whilst on board, both ships have Wi-Fi.

So for those who worry about eating to much away, not to worry as you can have your cake and east it with SeaDream, just remember to leave an hour free to spend in the Gym, there is a fitness centre on-board both ships featuring ocean views with treadmills and bikes with flat screen TV’s, free weight and daily classes including Yoga and Tai Chi and after your session why not retire to the spa complete with sauna and steam room, or a couple of hours on the Balinese Dream beds.

In the evening you will find a choose of bars including a piano bar and restaurants, entertainment and fun with the crew, or if you want to sit back you can and take a movie in under the stars. The are Special parties and event designed by you Club and Activities Director, Live Guitar and a Casino so when the Sun sets you will still have lots to do..

And at the end of the day why not take advantage of SeaDream’s Signature Champagne and Caviar Splash, this is a celebration held on the Caribbean Voyages and is in celebration of the yachting lifestyle as it defines ‘Casual Perfection’. A gourmet barbecue served on bone china on a white sandy beach – what more could you ask for?

So what do you think, fancy Yachting instead of Cruising?
