Christmas in November……….

I’ve just returned from a fantastic weekend with all my family in Newton Abbott. 10 years ago we hired a house for my Auntie’s 50th Birthday and decided to go back to the same house 10 years later to Celebrate again, this time for her 60th obviously. I think the last ten years have sent our family bonkers to say the least,  to say we have had an awesome weekend would be an understatement.

17 of us headed down to Weston House, a beautiful period property in the small Village of Highweek. With its own swimming pool and capacity to sleep 30 people we had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy ourselves.

My Auntie picks a Theme for the weekend so we had a mad itinerary with a retro fancy dress pool part on Saturday followed by Weston House has got talent on the Saturday night where we all put on a show showing off our zero talent from ‘Jake the peg with his extra leg, ‘Renee & Renata’, and the Rocky Horror Show. Followed by good old Kareoke

Sunday was a Traditional Christmas with the tree, full Christmas Dinner, Santa, presents, crackers, and even the Queen made an appearance. We all mucked in with the cooking and the practical jokes which took place all weekend. We can safely say we haven’t all laughed so much for years.

Monday night Vivienne cooked her traditional Greek menu with cheese pie, Greek Salads, and slow cooked lamb, and we topped this off with a night at the races in the lounge where we all tried to be crowned the winning jockey.

We even managed to head into Torquay, Brixham, and Paignton for a quick visit too.

My Mom’s side of the family is made up from 2 separate families of 5 children as both their Mother and Father on seperate sides passed away in their mid 30’s leaving their parners to raise five very small children between them. This resulted in my Grandad meeting my Step Nan, who I’ve always called Nan, and they created our wonderful family which we have today.

We know we are so lucky to have such a fantastic family and can’t wait for the next big reunion.
