Still Winners!

Those that follow my blog, know my love for rugby! Well it reached new heights a couple of weekends ago.  As most of you are aware, I play for Morriston Ladies, and recently we made it to the WRU Bowl Final!  We were all really excited as we just missed out on the final last year, we were beaten by Taffs Well.  This year we had Dowlais in the Semi-Final, and the other final was being played, and we were a bit disappointed to find out that we had Taffs Well in the final!  Now you might be wondering as to why we were disappointed, well, we have played them around 5 times already this season, so we were hoping for someone different.  But it was what it was.

So we made our way to Merthyr Tydfil to play at the Centre of Sports Excellence for our Bowl Final on the 28th April, my dad had travelled all the way from Glasgow to watch me play, so no pressure!  I was on the bench, as I have recently had 6 months away from playing, the girls were really excited and we tried not to let the occasion get to us.  We did start the brighter of the 2 teams and soon the score was 10-5 to us at half time.

The girls played outstanding, and I played the last 10 minutes, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough, we were beaten by Taffs Well 15-10.  Although we lost, we had the Welsh Woman’s coach and few other people within the Welsh Rugby Union, tell us that the better team did not win.  Which is always nice to hear, that yes, we may have lost but we worked hard to get where we wanted to be, and we push on to next season and hopefully we can get to the final and win it – just let’s not play Taffs Well again – please!
