Cruising Amazing Value

Greetings cruisers

Hope you are all well and enjoying the surprisingly hot weather we have had over the last couple of days. So I have just returned from my 2 weeks holiday in Bulgaria with 11 other family members and it was so nice to actually get the chance for me to holiday all together, as some of you know I have worked and lived all over the world and I never had the chance to take a family holiday. So having just returned from a great trip, I can honestly say, cruising is the way to go. I had never tried an all inclusive hotel based holiday before (Yes I know surprising eh) and I will probably not do one again. There is a very good reason for this, no I did not fall out with the family or anything like that! It was all about the food and drink included.

This is area things just did not go well, firstly waiting for a table before I eat is probably one of my biggest annoyances for me and boy did I put in some waiting time, all I seemed to do was continually walk around the restaurant hoping a table would become available, sometimes for nearly 20 minutes, it was doing my head in. Once table found the queue for the food was just as frustrating and well if you like pork and chicken cooked in all kinds of strange sauces you would have been happy, too be very honest it was like the good old days when I used to eat in the crew messes on board.

The bar and drinks were no different and it was always like a rugby scrum every time you wanted to order a drink, another of my pet hates, and do not even get me started on the selection of spirits, when they stated “local Spirits” I did not think they meant from the bloke down the road making it out of his garage !!

Oh and just another point, It was very rare to get a smile from any of the staff working in the hotel.

Now, I know, having worked on ships I should already understand the great value a cruise is, well let me tell you, I really know what value a cruise holiday has to offer, there is just no comparison, yes you may pay a little more for a cruise but it is well worth it, the difference is unbelievable.

Yes I had a great time with all my family and that was what made the holiday, BUT never ever will I try an all inclusive land based holiday again.

Cruising is absolutely the way to go
