P&O Name new ship

Well P&O have named their new ship recently.  It is to be called ‘Iona’ which is a small Hebridean island off the coast of Scotland.  Firstly what do you think of the name?  Does it fit in with Britannia, Azura, Ventura, Oceana, Aurora and Arcadia?  Personally I am not sure.  To me it seem a bit of an oddball name.

She will feature a half mile “Lanai” deck which is an outdoor covered promenade that will include alfresco restaurants and bars.  She will have three story glass paneled atrium… remember Britannia has that three story chandelier which was pretty spectacular.

There will also be  a giant dome on top of the ship will be one of four on board entertainment spaces, featuring aerial performances, projections onto the roof and immersive shows.  I think P&O are trying to be a bit Royal Caribbean here with the aerial performances but it also sounds like ‘Illuminations’ on Queen Mary 2

The ship will have 17 eateries including seven specialty restaurants where Britannia has three so another 14 ways to eek a little bit more money out of paeesngers.  12 bars, 13 entertainment venues, three pop-up entertainment spaces four swimming pools (three outside and one inside) and 16 whirlpools.

Iona will be the first ship to have LGN which is a revolutionary and environmentally friendly propulsion system which in todays cruising a necessity.

Are bigger ships better though?  There will be people who agree and disagree.   What are your thoughts?
